About Me

Thank you so much for stopping by our blog! Come with me us as we journey through the land of 6 year olds.

Hello there I am Ronalea ! Being a teacher is a dream come true for me... I come from a long line of teachers, both grandmas, aunts, and uncles... you could say it is in my blood. Since I can remember I have been in my grandma's classroom reading to her students and "helping" her. Rumor has it I also used to force my sister (Richelle) to be my student as I pretended to be a teacher.

In 2007, I graduated with my Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) I briefly worked for a city doing economic development. I then moved back to my hometown in beautiful sunny Southern California and began my credential program. I earned my Educational Specialist Credential and taught Special Education for 5 years. I was blessed to have worked at my Alma mater as a SAI teacher (formally know as a RSP teacher), teaching Algebra, Geometry, and English. I always knew my passion was to teach at the elementary setting, and after I began my Reading and Literacy Specialist Master's program I knew I need to make the move to primary. I taught a kindergarten-first combo for students that were communicatively handicap for two years. I have finally landed my "dream job" teaching first grade! This year has been amazing and filled with many challenges but I love going to work everyday!

How could you not love this face? This is Kershaw! xoxo
In my spare time I love to travel with my amazing husband, craft... it is my stress relief, cheer on the Dodgers, play with my beautiful fur babies, go shopping, read a good book and be outside!! I am beyond obsessed with PUGS to the point that all my student's wanted a pug for Christmas (how could you not LOVE their squishy faces and curly tails)!

I am Stephanie, and have the great fortune of being one of Ronalea's first grade teaching partners.  We are more than that though.  We affectionately claim the title of "work-wife" in each other's life, we are friends, and confidants.  Really though, you can just call me "lucky", because I get to work with one of my best friends EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

For as long and I can remember, I would tell people that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up.  Several years ago, at the age of 37, I guess I grew up, because I finally began my teaching career.  My life (and that of my family) would never be the same again.  I have been married to my husband Eric (who is also my resident handyman) for almost 20 years, and have two man-children, Logan - 19 and Kaiden - 17.

Although my husband and I are both Southern California Natives, we made a big decision a number of years ago, and decided to move our family to Alaska for a job opportunity.  It was there, that I finally hunkered down, earned my Bachelor's Degree, received my Teaching Credential, and was hired for my first teaching job (3rd grade).  After a five and a half year stay in Alaska, we have now been back in Southern California for a few years.  Since returning, I have taught Transitional Kindergarten, first grade, and have earned a Masters Degree in Instructional Design.  What a journey it has been!
